It amazes me that the term “self-awareness” is so popular. It’s a term that seems to exist to make us feel better about ourselves, but really it’s just a fancy way of saying self-control: a kind of inner ability to know which behaviors are productive and which are counterproductive. The more we practice self-knowledge, the better we become.

Self-awareness is not something that can be taught. It’s something that comes with experience, and it’s not something that we can just sit down and learn. It’s not something that you can just sit down and write it on a piece of paper and expect it to come out. It takes a lot of thought and effort to develop.

The good news is that, in the real world, the more we practice self-awareness, the more we become capable of making conscious choices based on what we know to be true. Self-awareness is perhaps one of the most underrated aspects of human existence. It is simply the ability to know what we are thinking so we can respond to it. For example, if we know that we have a tendency to talk about other people’s problems, we will be much more likely to change our behavior towards that kind of talk.

Even more importantly though, self-awareness actually has a positive impact on our behavior. In fact, it is a form of social intelligence. That is, self-awareness is also a form of social intelligence because it helps to ensure that we are as aware of ourselves as possible. For example, if we know that our friends are actually nice to us, we will be much more likely to be nice to them in return.

It is indeed a form of social intelligence to know that we are, in fact, friends with people we know, so it stands to reason that if we can be aware of our friend’s behavior, they will also be aware of our behavior. But just to be clear, we are not saying that when we are aware of our friends’ behavior, we are automatically friends with them, just that this awareness actually helps us to become friends with them.

We are actually trying to say that when we have this awareness about our friends, we are not necessarily friends with them, and in fact we might want to be friends with them. We mean that if we are aware of their behavior, we might want to be in a position to help them by being helpful and friendly.
